Clays & Colourants
What are they?
Natural powders made from mined earth (clays) or plants; whether the root, leaves, or flowers.
These powders have specific properties that may help a product we make (for example; bentonite clay is used in face masks for oily skin because it is very absorbent). They can also just give a nice colour (for example, Madder Root gives our Rosehip & Honey Soap its deep red colouring)
Includes:
- Kaolin, Bentonite, French, Australian, Brazilian, Sea, Rhassoul & other Clays
- Plant Leaf and Root Powders (madder, alkanet, sage, seaweed, butterfly pea, indigo)
- Activated Charcoal
- Micas (minerals mixed with coloured pigments for bright and brilliant colouring)
Products made with clays, colourants, and pigments: soaps, face masks & clay cubes, bath salts & shave soaps

Emulsifiers & Solubilisers
What are they?
Emulsifiers are products that help to combine water and oils together and keep them that way. Solubilisers are the same, but specifically to help blend essential oils in with other products.
These products usually have other properties like conditioning (BTMS-50), thickening (Olivem 1000), and cleansing (Emulsifying Wax NF). The emulsifiers we use are plant-derived.
Includes:
- BTMS-50, Emulsifying Wax NF, Olivem 1000, Polawax, Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 80
Products made with emulsifiers and solubilisers: conditioner bars, moisturising cream, whipped sugar scrubs, bath bombs

Includes:
- hydrolysed wheat protein, panthenol (vitamin B5), sodium lactate, vegetable glycerine (occurs naturally in our soaps)
Products made with humectants: conditioner bars, shave soaps, liquid hand & body wash

Includes:
- titanium dioxide & zinc oxide
Products made with minerals:
- deodorant paste

What are they?
There are ionic and nonionic surfactants that help to combine water, oils, and fats together. The two surfactants we use in our products also help to create thick later, plus condition skin and hair. They are derived from coconut oil.
Includes:
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB), Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI)
Products made with surfactants: shampoo bars

Essential & Fragrance Oils
What are they?
Essential oils are the incredibly concentrated oils from pure plant matter (roots, leaves, bark, flowers). They can be extracted through steam distillation or cold-pressing. They are potent and strong oils that can cause skin irritation when undiluted.
Fragrance oils are made in a laboratory setting, which allows for many more versatile scents, and are generally longer lasting in body products. The fragrance oils we use are phthalate free and vegan.
Most of our products contain essential or fragrance oils & are labelled very clearly.
